Piece

Here's something I'm working on. I drew all the ornamental stuff and I'm really happy with it because it showcases (to me at least) that when I sit down and do something, I can produce something I've imagined in my head.
Critiques are welcome, and all negatives taken as positives.

Keeping up with things

Hey all, it's been a busy week. Unfortunately the only pictures I got to take of all the fun were just a couple of family, and weren't really anything worth displaying. I had a great week with tons of free alcohol thrown my way almost every night. Thanks to all my friends who read this and hooked me up!
As for drawing, I'm trying to be real loose with the pencil lately. It always seems to get my creative mojo flowin' like a river. Have a great Holiday everyone, I'm about to bbq

I designed this bigger, to be displayed as a background at 1280x1040, but it looked goofy when selected so I scaled it down so you could appreciate it in its entirety without scrolling all over the place.
Please feel free to comment. The purple in the middle seems to be a point of negativity for some. Let me know what you think :)

Boring day

I like circles a lot. These colors are also some of my favorite to play with.

Summer project

So I think I've decided that for my summer project I will be creating an Illustrated narrative. Not really a comic book, but some interesting Illustrations to accompany a story I plan on telling. Not to say too much, but it involves long life and falsifying the future... if that makes any sense. It makes sense to me. Lol.
Anyway... I'm going to start writing it soon, and writing always takes me forever because my facts always get twisted (even though I make them up) and I end up with loop holes bigger than the reasons for invading Iraq.
I'll post progress.
Thanks for reading, Sail and Ester :-)

Stared at this

I literally just stared at this figure for a good day and a half before I thought of something to do with it. I recently got NEUBAUWELT from amazon.com after being referred to it by Jonathan Hickman (check out his work here: www.pronea.com )
It's full of vector images that are really going to enhance my work in countless ways. Big thanks to him on helping me out in the respect :)
It's a subjective piece. I know what I was thinking about when I did, but your opinions might differ.
Enjoy

Figure drawing final

I made this for my figure drawing final. The composition is noticeably weak, but it showcases a lot of my growth over the semester.
I started by taking my model (in this my brother) and placing him in a very moody pose. I then outlined him on a big piece of drawing paper. I can't remember what kind, but it's 90lb and pretty nice to work on.
I then shaded and highlighted using conte crayon and charcoal (i like the way charcoal moves around more than the way black conte does).
Then I cut out the picture and glued it to a 30x40'' canvas. From there I used whatever skills I learned in my expressive drawing class to paint something I found to to compliment the atmosphere of the drawing itself. I went over some parts of the actual figure in paint (the hair and pants) to darken up areas I didn't really care for too much.

Let me know what you think
